The first thing to understand is that UE4 has two types of collision response systems - Trace and Object. Trace is used with line-trace calls, while Object is used with everything else. Each system has set of "Channels". You can use these channels to tell UE4 what a collision plane should do (or what not to do) when it hits another collision plane.
Jan 25, 2017 · Once you have your enemy ready open the enemy blueprint and click on the mesh component. In the "Details panel", scroll down to collision and open Collision Presets. Set the Collision Preset to custom and then in the trace responses set the Visibility channel to block. The Collision settings should look like in the screenshot below.
I have a floor in my current project that is a simple plane made of 2 triangles. To setup collision, I went into the static mesh editor and choose "add box simplified collision." EliasWick would be looking for. No need for making a custom collision mesh (assuming we're actually talking about a plane and not some complex flat mesh.

This is just a quick Tutorial about collision in UE4 and creating custom collision meshes for your asset The escalator used in my recent trim sheet tutorial was a good example of an asset that would need custom collision meshes to be made in order to be used in game, so I decided to make this quick and simple tutorial. This is because there is currently a bug in UE4 regarding custom Nav Areas. Set the Location to 100, 0, 50; Enable Simulation Generates Hit Events; Set the Collision Presets to Custom… Custom collision presets means that we can choose what we want to detect with this collider. Use RBC When enabled, use Robot Builder Configuration JSON files. Dec 05, 2016 · I have spent a stupid amount of time working on custom collision detection for capsules, but even with what I have now, the performance is terrible compared to what I think physx could give. Having a way to do collision detection without rigidbodies so we can use it in Update instead of FixedUpdate is a must (as well as no garbage collection). UE4 handles it's collision with physics hulls, or basic shapes. Many engines and developers prefer to do it this way as it is a lot faster. As for your specific problem, I've not looked at a way to do large scale accurate collisions outside of doing "use complex as simple" which I believe has limitations. For soft body collision to work correctly the normals of the collision mesh need to be oriented in the right direction - ie, in the direction of the collision. For example, in the case of a simple chute created from a cube by removing some faces you would need to Flip Normals to ensure that they are pointing 'inwards' as shown : UE4 handles it's collision with physics hulls, or basic shapes. I am following the tutorial here entitled "Making a Pickup". I have created a Blueprint class from the Statue SM: I have set the SM Collision Preset to OverlapAll per the instructions. In the Event You will NEED a 3D modelling package for this one! But here's how to set up custom collisions in UE4 (not complex to simple, ugh). Document: https://docs.unr...
